Unforgettable Mayday (The harder it is, the more satisfied I feel)

Updated: 6 hours ago

Today is May 21, 2025. Thinking back to the scene two weeks ago, it really makes my blood boil!

I remember that the "old machine" air conditioner in the classroom is already 25 years old. It has always had old problems and needs maintenance almost every year. When I cleaned the air conditioner last year, C Fu told me that this air conditioner can no longer be disassembled for maintenance because it is too old. Some parts and the iron frame supporting the machine have aged and can be broken at any time~ 😨 I remember that in the early summer of last year, because the air conditioner suddenly broke down, everyone jumped around in the classroom like "baked potatoes" (regular class), and it was already very uncomfortable!

Who knew I was so so lucky? I was about to give a performance at school. The air conditioner had completed its life mission a week earlier! It was completely broken and could not be turned on again! At that moment, I felt like the end of the world. I thought of how uncomfortable my classmates must have felt when they came to class. As the host of the classroom, I felt extremely helpless!

So I immediately notified the owner to replace the air conditioner as soon as possible, hoping to continue business. Unfortunately, it takes at least 5-6 working days to order and install the air conditioner. This happened to coincide with the extraordinary period when we had to reschedule for performances. We had no choice but to go ahead and endure the hardships of learning dance in New York, USA 25 years ago. The dance studio at that time did not have air conditioning equipment!

As a result, we managed to survive several days of rehearsal without any cool breeze (except for the fan) (including my work in the classroom in the afternoon). Every student was soaked from head to toe. One student was particularly prone to "sweating". He was like getting out of the water after swimming, and all the tap dance boards in the classroom were "soaked". The scene was very messy and dirty! After rehearsal, I would slowly clean up the mess, sweating profusely, and prepare for the next day when the master came to add air conditioning.

Finally, thanks to the help of Otto, the two of us and C Fu (a total of three people, the master originally said that he was not strong enough to move it, and the installation would be delayed for at least one or two days) worked together to put this overweight machine in its original position, so that we can enjoy the air conditioning on the day of the performance (May 9)! This experience is really not easy. Humans will lose strength in a hot environment and become irritable. This is really uncomfortable. It takes twice the effort to think calmly~

Fortunately, we successfully performed well! The rehearsal went very smoothly. I would like to thank all the students who participated in the performance this time. They practiced with me without any complaints during this difficult period, and made sure that the performance could reach a certain level. This was a promise to myself! The experience gained through practical experience is absolutely precious!
