Anthony Suen
Founder / Artistic Director / Choreographer
Born in Hong Kong, Anthony is a hoofer, musical theatre performer, choreographer and a licensed yoga instructor. He has been teaching tap dance, jazz dance, musical theatre and yoga for over 22+ years.
Anthony graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in Musical Theatre Dance. During his study, he was awarded a scholarship to a musical theatre training program “CAP21” in New York. He is certified with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Advanced (1)Tap Certificate and the Australia’s Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) Gold Star Tap Certificate with honours. In 2002, Anthony established “Tap Ensemble”, a professional tap dance company. He then produced an original tap dance theatre show 《A Place for Us》 in 2006.
He was one of the choreographer for the Hong Kong Dance Alliance's production; he choreographed《Final Cut》in 2003 and《My Tap Blog》in 2008.
In the year 2008-09, Anthony was employed by the Hong Kong Disneyland as the leading male vocalist of the《High School Musical Live!》and《The Golden Mickeys》. He had performed in numerous of shows including : HKAPA《Merrily We Roll Along》, 《42nd Street》, 《Crazy For You》&《Best Of Broadway》; MT Pulse 《Cheers!》; Ben Ting Production《Starry Starry Night》; Springtime Production《Hong Kong Nocturne》; Drama Gallery’s《Vagabond》; The Hong Kong Musical Theatre Federation《Pippin》, 《2004 New Year’s Eve Carnival》, 《A Life Journey Through Musicals》( performed in Tunisia "Le Bulletin du festival” 2005),《Musical Journey A to Z》 & 《Postcards from Broadway》; HK Chorus’ 《Annie》; HK 3 Arts Musical Institute《Othello》; Theatre Space《DA》(a translated play); The Hong Kong Arts Festival program《The Legend of the White Snake》&《And Then There’s You》; Dance Art《Butterfly Effect》and Andy Wong In Concert《One Heart One Voice》. A original musical performed in Venetian Theatre Macau 《The Myth of Fox》. He had performed for the 40th Hong Kong Art Festival Contemporary Dance Series《Journey Of Sounds》.
He co-choreographed a live music tap dance concert《Just In Time》with the founder-Yvette Nie from StudioDanz.
Anthony opened his SMK TAP DANCE STUDIO in 2013. He had been traveling to New York, Korea, Japan also Tai Pei International Tap Festival to keep exploring the art form with those living tap dance masters. Apart from teaching various classes in his studio, he also teaches English Musical & Drama for Mad Impact in various secondary schools.
In 2015, Anthony completed his yoga study with Wai-Mei Yeung & Robert Boswell and received a "Yoga Teacher Training Certification"(RYT200) from Barefoot Yoga Studio (U.S.A.). He has been teaching EDB's Applied Learning Program - Taking A Chance (Jazz Dance) at HKAPA since 2015. This year he is the tap dance choreographer of Braemar Hill Nursery School 45th anniversary graduation show. Anthony is currently teaching musical jazz at A-Ballet Academy.
Mrs. Cathy Huang
Graduated from Si Chaun Dance Academy. Qualified teacher certificate from the Beijing Dance Academy.
Mrs. Huang had been employed as a full time dancer by Zhuhai "Yuanming Palace", Shenzhen "The Window of the World", “Happy Valley" as well as the "Hong Kong Disneyland".
Cathy studied at SMK Tap Dance Studio since 2013, she is expertised in chinese, jazz and tap dancing. She has been performed all over Asia.
In 2014, she obtained a wedding hair & make-up certificate from Make Up Forever.
Miss Eugenia Chow
Eugenia graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and currently works as a primary school teacher specializing in English, Music, and Visual Arts.
She began ballet training at a young age and achieved the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) Grade 8 examination with distinction. Since 2017, Eugenia has also been learning tap dancing at SMK TAP DANCE STUDIO and has participated in various performances.
Eugenia is passionate about promoting tap dancing in local schools, with the goal of encouraging children to experience the joy of dance together.
Mr. Otto Cheung
Mr Otto met Anthony back in 2010. he has been taking tap dance lessons since then. Otto started his tap dance training at SMK TAP DANCE STUDIO in 2013. He was the 1st generation student from the studio who had been tap dancing for over 15+ years. He graduated in Open University.
Otto loves to make music through his feet and express himself, his favourite tap dance icons are Sarah Reich and Leon Collins. He likes to learn and honour choreographies from old tap dance masters which are the influencers of this art form we are taking on today.
You can find his appearance in some of our studio's performances as well as school tours. Otto is desperate to gain more experiences in performing to apply what he has learnt in class. "Tap dancing on stage is another story compared to dancing in front of a mirror !" He mentioned it once while tightening his tap shoes backstage.
